A Little Bees & Tranquility

Hopefully by now, you’ve read the article about the evidence-based benefits of incorporating honey into your skin care routine. If not, take a peek. If you’re here because you want some inspiration for your next self-care ritual, by all means, welcome.

This list is not exhaustive, by any means, and there is so so much room for personalization. Add what you want, take away what doesn’t feel right to you. Inhale, exhale, and give yourself a little bees and tranquility.

Note: Please, for the love, use raw honey ONLY, not the store-bought bear honey. For extra-points, buy from your local beekeeper and support small! Also, for the sake of avoiding repetition, all of these masks should be left to sit for 15-20 minutes (unless otherwise noted), and rinsed with warm water.

Face Wash

  • Take a spoonful of honey and generously apply to your face and neck. Can also add a squeeze of lemon juice as well. This can be a sticky, so I generally use this method when I’m in the shower and can just wash right off.

Face Masks

For smooth skin -

  • 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/4 cup of flour, 1 egg white.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1/4c of avocado.

  • 1-2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

For radiant skin -

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey with 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Avoid eyes when applying to face.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. Let sit for 10 minutes. ***caution, the turmeric in this recipe may cause temporary discoloration if you have fair skin***

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon green tea (I prefer matcha), 1 teaspoon of olive oil.

For soft skin -

  • 2 tablespoons of honey, 1/3 cup of oatmeal (can grind/blend in a blender prior to mixing for smoother consistency), 1 teaspoon of rose water. An exfoliating mask. Wash off with warm water first and then cold water.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. An exfoliating mask.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of melted coconut oil. This is a great mask if you are a make-up-wearing-person, as the coconut oil can help remove residual make-up while providing glorious moisture.

For moisturized skin -

  • 2 tablespoons of honey with 1-2 teaspoons of milk of choice -OR- 2 tablespoons of yogurt.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil. You essentially want equal parts olive oil and honey.

  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey, 1-2 tablespoons of aloe gel, a splash of rosewater, 2-3 mint leaves. This one is great after being in the sun all day.

For a little bees & tranquility -

  • 2 tablespoons of honey with 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil. Our personal favorite.
