A Little Rebrand

Hello friends!

It’s been a while and a lot has happened over the past few months. I’ll dive into some updates in a later post, but wanted to share a little something. You may have noticed that our name has changed and if you have been with us a while, you will note that this is the second time we’ve opted to change our business name. Anyone will a small business knows that there are bumps in the road and we are no exception.

We have been working with a trademark attorney to protect our business and throughout that process, discovered that it was in our best interest to change our business name. It was a hard pill to swallow, I’ll be honest, because we had already invested so much into our brand and identity. So we took some time to think creatively and try to create a word that embodied who we were as a business in conjunction with something that would prevent us from having to do a total rebrand.

We wanted to keep the “N” from “Nelson” and hold true to our identity. We have an affinity for Nordic/Viking culture, so we started researching translations for words that held meaning to us. We stumbled upon “elska,” which, depending on the different translation that you may find, translates to “love” or “to care for, cultivate, or cherish.”

James and I created this business from a deeply rooted love for each other and the world we live in. So this name just made sense.

We then reached out to our incredible brand designer, who updated our logo a bit to flow with our new name.

We are proud to introduce to you, the Nelska Bee and Lavender Company. Welcome.
